Frequently Asked Questions
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the only FDA Approved method for permanent hair removal. It works for all skin types, hair types, skin colors, hair colors, and areas of the body.
How does Electrolysis work?
A very thin, sterile probe is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle alongside the hair shaft. Then an electric current is applied to the hair follicle that creates heat and a chemical reaction. This destroys the hair follicle and prevents it from producing another hair.

Is Electrolysis painful?
There is a warming sensation associated with the treatment that can feel like a burning sensation or a pinch. Most people find it very tolerable, but keep in mind that some areas of the face and body are more sensitive than others and that individual tolerance varies greatly. Some people listen to music or even take a nap!
How many treatments are needed to get permanent results?
The number of sessions required for permanent hair removal varies with each client. This all depends on the coarseness of the hair, location, phase of hair growth, hormones, and previous methods of hair removal. In general, treatments are longest and most frequent at the beginning, then taper off as fewer and fewer hairs remain to be treated. In the beginning, this could mean coming once a week or once every other week. For those that stay consistent with treatments, most should become hair free or mostly hair-free by 18-24 months.
Why should I choose Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a long-term investment to be free from unwanted hair for good! Electrolysis treats each individual hair one by one. It requires commitment to your treatment plan, and patience. It is not a quick fix! Over time, the investment of electrolysis pays itself off as it eliminates the need for costly temporary solutions such waxing and tweezing.
What should I expect after treatment?
Slight redness or tenderness is common and a normal side effect of electrolysis treatment, which usually disappears in a few hours. Occasionally, small whiteheads or tiny scabs may occur. Whiteheads usually are indicative of bacteria entering the follicle after treatment. Remember to keep the area as clean as possible for 24 hours immediately following treatment. Do not touch your skin with unwashed hands. Scabs are part of the normal healing process and will not cause any permanent damage if they are not picked off. Picking off scabs could lead to scaring.
